How Long Have You Been in a Trial Mod? Share Your Story!
by Tim Manni
Each week we receive comments from readers, sharing their confusion and frustration over the federal modification program. Mainly, these gripes consist of long-term modifications that some how never become permanent for one reason or another.
Just today one of our readers named Kathy wrote in and told us how she has been in a Bank of America trial mod from May 2009 until January 2010.
ProPublica.org — “an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest” –wants to hear from homeowners who have been in a trial mods for months and months:
To help shine some light on the issue, we’re trying to find the homeowner who has spent the longest time in a trial period. Have you or do you know someone who has made trial payments for months on end? Eight months? Nine?
If that’s you, please write paul.kiel@propublica.org and put “World’s Longest Trial” in the subject line.
Blog.HSH.com readers: If you’ve been in a trial mod for close to a year, I suggest emailing ProPublica (see above) and share your story. Don’t forget to drop us a line as well.
